Located between the Doubs Horloger Regional Nature Park and the Jura Mountains, and the Montbéliard region
and its Peugeot adventure, the Domaine offers you a break away full of possibilities.

We have listed all the activities in Franche-Comté for you to discover during your stay at the Domaine des Rochaules.

In Valoreille :

Montaigu's point of view

Located just 4 km from the estate, the Montaigu viewpoint, which rises to an altitude of 816 metres, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Ballon d'Alsace, Lomont, the Dessoubre gorges and neighbouring Switzerland. In good weather, you can even see the summit of Mont Blanc.

The Montaigu viewpoint is also of great ornithological interest as it is one of the most important sites in north-eastern France for monitoring the post-nuptial migration of birds of prey and wood pigeons (and other species). The migration season runs from late August to late November, when more than 300,000 birds can be observed.

Comté cheese dairy:

Served at Versailles in honour of King Charles III, Valoreille comté cheese has already proven its worth. The dairy, in the centre of the village, is open every day from 8.30am to 11am.

Dessoubre Valley.

Our rivers and forests are an invaluable part of our heritage. To recharge your batteries, relax or let off steam, the Dessoubre offers a paradise of natural beauty. You will find beautiful walks and hikes, lovely spots to relax by the water, sandy beaches or pebble beaches. Let yourself be carried away by the current. If you love our valley, we can take you to our favourite hidden spots and prepare wonderful picnics by the water.

Bois du Roy lake in Trévillers

Doubs Horloger Regional Nature Park, our region offers a wealth of opportunities for walks and relaxation spots, by the water or in the middle of the forest. There are several hiking trails to suit all tastes.

Canoeing and kayaking in Pont de Roide

The Pont de Roide canoeing and kayaking club invites you to discover our landscapes from the perspective of our river, the Doubs! Hire a canoe, kayak or paddleboard and set off on an adventure, either alone or with others.

Belvoir Castle

A 12th-century fortified castle, Belvoir Castle takes us back to Welsh-Roman history. Overlooking the valley, it sits majestically on the salt road. It is nestled on the cliff above the small village of Belvoir, which we consider to be the most beautiful little village in Franche-Comté.

Batterie des Roches in Pont de Roide and Fort Mont-Bart

The Fort des Roches, in the middle of the Crêt des Roches reserve, proudly commemorates the French fortifications of the 19th century, linked to Fort Mont-Bart above the commune of Bart. A major migratory site, it wonderfully combines nature and history.

10-20 minutes away For nature lovers

Crêt des Roches Regional Nature Reserve

On the heights of Pont de Roide, the Lomont mountains overlook the Doubs valley and are home to a rich botanical reserve. A major migration site, the red kite, black woodpecker and Eurasian eagle-owl grace us with their presence.

The great Jura crossing with the GR509

For lovers of hiking and discovery, our region is criss-crossed by the magnificent great Jura crossing or the GR509.
From Mandeure (25 minutes from Les Rochaules) to the department of Ain, this hike will allow you to discover the entire Jura Natural Park and its rich mix of landscapes.

The Rock Cave, the Bisontin Cave and the Castle Trail

The village of Saint-Hippolyte (10 minutes from the estate) is the starting point for a multitude of hikes, including The Rock Cave, the Bisontin Cave and the Castle Trail, featuring waterfalls, cliffs and scenic viewpoints. Rejuvenation / Resourcing guaranteed. Trails for all enthusiasts: strolls, walks or long hikes.

Bourbet Rock

On the other side of the Dessoubre valley, the Bourbet Rock is a place for contemplation, where you can see our village from the other side of the valley. A small picnic and another view of our world.

Le Préhisto-Parc

In Réclère, a fascinating journey takes you back billions of years. Discover a trail dotted with dinosaur replicas, explaining animal evolution.

The Réclère caves

Also in Réclère, dive beneath the earth's surface to experience one of Switzerland's most beautiful natural wonders: the Réclère caves. A 1,500-metre trail has been laid out for visitors!

La Combe Saint Pierre leisure park in Charquemont

The Combe Saint Pierre leisure park has something for everyone. Come and enjoy yourself alone or with your family.
In summer: tree climbing, mountain biking, pump track and leisure area for little ones. And in winter: skiing, sledging, ice rink, snowshoeing.

Les Echelles de la Mort and its via ferrata

Two activities: Les Echelles de la Mort on one side and the via ferrata des échelles de la mort on the other. Close to Fournet-Blancheroche, this incredible site is just waiting for you.

The ladders are made of steel and firmly anchored in the rock, taking you up to the viewpoint, which offers an incredible panorama of the Valley of Death.

The via ferrata is an activity in its own right. Get your fill of thrills and freedom with the course: rope bridge, ladder, zip line and unbeatable views. Open to novices and beginners. Breathtaking views of the Valley of Death.

Village to discover

Goumois
The Franco-Swiss gem: half Swiss, half French, this small village is a must-see in the Doubs. Things to do: hiking, canoeing, mountain biking and places to discover: the Rocher du Singe (Monkey Rock), the Grotte de l'Ermitage (Hermitage Cave) and the Theusseret Dam.

30 minutes away Montbéliard

Peugeot Adventure Museum

In Sochaux, the Peugeot Adventure Museum tells the industrial history of the region: sewing machines, automobiles, sports cars... The incredible story of the Lion brand since 1810.

Château de Wurtemberg

A 13th-century fortified castle, the Château des Ducs de Wurtemberg is the emblem of the city of Montbéliard. Renovated into a major tourist attraction, it is a place of cultural exchange. Located in the heart of the city, exploring it will take you directly to Montbéliard's pedestrian avenue.

The Prés-la-Rose Park and the City of Science

In the centre of Montbéliard, you can enjoy the beauty of the Prés-la-Rose Park, with its 10 hectares and seasonal activities. Surrounded by the Rhône-Rhine Canal and the Allan River, it is pleasant to stroll near the barges before enjoying the exhibitions in the science pavilion.

Christmas lights

Every year from the end of November, magic comes to Montbéliard with its Christmas market and lights. The historic heart of the city of princes lights up to the delight of visitors of all ages.

Dino Zoo

In Etalans, the Dino Zoo is a real amusement park that takes you back to the time of dinosaurs and prehistory. There are lots of activities on offer based around this period: learn how to make fire, play at being a palaeontologist, and more. There are also several attractions for children and adults alike! Everything you need for a wonderful day out.

Gouffre de Poudrey

Just a few minutes from the Dino Zoo, come and discover the underground world with sound and light. The chasm is a huge natural cavity carved out over thousands of years, a refuge for bats and the legend of the vouivre.

La Forêt de l'Aventure leisure park in Morteau

In the heart of the Morteau valley, several activities are organised for your enjoyment: a large tree-top adventure course, caving, archery, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, orienteering, paddleboarding, climbing, abseiling, canoeing and kayaking

Acroland Park in Montenois

Tree-top adventure course, mini golf, laser tag, net maze... a whole host of activities in one place near Montbéliard.

Saut du Doubs

A natural treasure and an unmissable detour when travelling through Franche-Comté, the Saut du Doubs is a 27-metre waterfall and an impressively beautiful pool. Accessible by boat, horse-drawn carriage and on foot! Take a boat trip from Villers le Lac, enjoy the incredible scenery and watch for chamois perched on the cliffs.

Biaufond Lake

On the border between France and Switzerland, Biaufond Lake was created by the Refrain dam. The starting point for
several hiking trails, including the Gorges de la Ronde trail, the lake is also ideal for picnics and gentler walks.

Source of the Loue

Starting from the cave where the spring gushes forth, the Gorges de la Loue open up before you as far as the village of Mouthier-Haute-Pierre. Explore our trails between civilisation and nature.

Besançon

If you like old towns, Besançon is absolutely magnificent! With its Vauban citadel, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its cathedral, its city gates (Porte Noire and Porte Taillée) and its steep narrow streets, Besançon is a wonderful blend of heritage, culture and architecture.

Capital of watchmaking and birthplace of the Lumière brothers, the city is proud of its talents. You will also find the birthplace of Victor Hugo here. Three tours are organised to marvel at the city's wonders: the Citadel trail, the Watchmaking trail and the Jacquemart trail. The old town opens onto pedestrian streets lined with numerous shops, from craft boutiques to tourist stalls.

If you love culture, Besançon offers a wealth of concerts and other shows. The Rodia concert hall and the Micropolis exhibition centre are sure to entertain you.

Belfort

As beautiful as the old town of Besançon, Belfort is, in a completely different style, a marvel of culture and architectural art. The large Place d'Armes is a historical symbol not to be missed, rich in entertainment and wonderful monuments.

With its citadel, Bartholdi's Lion sits imperiously over the old town. Take advantage of free access to discover the largest stone sculpture in France and enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Belfort and its colours.

Belfort is home to one of the largest flea markets in eastern France, held every first Sunday morning from March to December! For lovers of flea markets, 150 exhibitors will be there just for you. And if you like little trains, Belfort's is a feast for the eyes, with the old town, citadel and panoramic views on the programme.
